today in the rain

still muddling through some larger work
thinking about the weeks ahead and filling the cold days
with color and connections

what are you doing to get through the winter months?

winter is here at last

even though I slept in until 7:45 this morning
the temperature was still only 5 degrees
the sun is out and it is sparkling
on the snowy ground

playing with a wintery frosty palette
 painting on a silver ground
what are these circular things??

pages

back in the studio after a holiday/family/travel break

messing around in my journal with some new shapes and colors
the imagery feels less serious
it has no life reference
maybe i need to lighten up
one of my paintings is stuck in the middle of then and now
that is what happens when you start a piece and don't touch it for a month- you come back to it with new eyes and the thread of creativity is lost, or at least it is changed
so I began a new piece
it is full on different but I am nervous to move forward with it
we'll see what the weeks deliver
hoping to share more soon

anniversary give away

Monday January 14th marks the 4th anniversary of my blog and in celebration I am giving away the first small piece I created in the new year.  To throw your name in the "hat",  simply leave a comment after this post and I will randomly draw a name on Monday morning (Maine time).  After announcing the name, the winner will have to message me with their mailing address so I can ship the piece to its new home.

Thank you to all who regularly read my posts.  It is encouraging that there is a greater community out there to connect to through my art.
All best in the New Year!

stash buster or the happy hooker

It is the time of year when the studio is a little (a lot!!) chilly early in the morning and I like to share my first cup(s) of coffee with an inside project. Not wanting to cast on another knitting venture just yet, I came across  a way to use up my bags and bags (and bags!!) of extra yarn.

snippets from my son and daughter's hats, my husband's sweater, a christmas stocking...

it is kind of reminding me of one of those vintage crazy quilts

in another few weeks it will warm our feet on cold winter mornings
